Educational background:
BS in Movement Science from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI
MA in Educational Administration from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI
Connection to EICCD and community colleges :
My husband attended SCC to complete his pre-chiropractic requirements for Palmer College of Chiropractic. He was able to take the courses in an accelerated format at an affordable tuition rate, which was wonderful! During my college years, I attended a community college during the summer months so that I could take a lighter class load during the school year. It was nice to get a class or two out of the way and have the credits transfer back to my university! I also worked there part-time and my mom has been employed by a community college for the last 11 years.
What I wish students knew about community colleges:
Community colleges are great resources for all students, regardless of age, goals, etc. Whether you are looking to take one college course, complete a degree program, or take a general interest course for fun, the community college is the place to start.
What I like best about working with students:
There is nothing better than working with a student and discovering what path is best for them and helping them begin their journey. Helping students reach their goal is by far the best part of my job!
Other:
I am originally from the Quad Cities, and just returned to the area after living in Michigan for seven years. Before working for EICCD, I worked as an academic advisor at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. I currently reside in Bettendorf with my husband James and our Golden Doodle puppy, Lumbar. Outside of work I am an avid sports fan, cheering on the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the Michigan State Spartans (Go Green!!), and I enjoy playing golf, running, and spending as much time possible with my family and friends.
