About Marv Smith

Marv is a life-long resident of Muscatine.  He graduated from Muscatine High School and attended Muscatine Community College for a brief period.   During his short time at MCC, Marv worked full-time for Tri-County Supplies, his family-owned plumbing and electrical supply store.  Marv felt a strong need to be involved in the family business at that time so he left college.

Technical Careers Representative Marv SmithNineteen years after his first try at MCC, Marv enrolled again and finished his AA Degree.  He then transferred to Iowa Wesleyan College where he earned a BA Degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

Marv believes that community colleges offer the best value in education today.  He also believes that flexible scheduling is very helpful for working adults.  Marv said, "Without a great community college nearby, I would never have had the chance to earn a degree."

Marv knows that his college experience changed his life. As a Technical Training Admissions Officer for EICCD, he is excited about having the chance to help others achieve a better life through higher education and/or career skills development.

Some of Marv's other interests involve hiking, kayaking, X-C skiing, and playing with his new granddaughter, Aubrey.
