Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) and Clinton Community College (CCC) have officially opened the doors in 2009 to the new Clinton Community College Maquoketa Center.
Construction on the $1.5 million center began a year ago with funding made possible through a 2007 bond referendum passed by the residents of the community college district, as well as a donation from the family of the late John Fagerland.
Fagerland, a Maquoketa resident, was a long-time member of the EICC Board of Trustees and it was his dream that the college have an educational facility in the community.
The center is located at 501 W. Washington Street, adjacent to Maquoketa High School (MHS). The Maquoketa Community School District helped make the project possible by allowing EICC to purchase the property for just $1.
The 11,000-square-foot building houses two state-of-the-art computer labs, a large meeting room, four classrooms and additional learning space.
Clinton Community College has provided college services in Maquoketa for more than two decades. The new center provides the college with an exciting opportunity to expand on the variety of services it delivers in the Maquoketa area, including:
The new building also houses the offices of Iow@Work and Iowa Workforce Development, bringing those important resources together with the career education experience offered by CCC.
