Ice Rescue is an 8 hour program that prepares the emergency first responder to safely respond to and carry out a surface ice rescue. The classroom lecture will introduce the student to topics including ice formation and hazards, equipment selection, medical consideration and the application of various rescue methods. A field exercise will be conducted using the tools and methods introduced to the students during the classroom portion of the program.

Students should bring: US Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Device (PDF), personal clothing that provides adequate cold weather protections. If available, bring the cold water/ice rescue suits used in your department and a dry change of clothing. Some cold water rescue equipment is available.

ICE RESCUE can be extremely strenuous and demanding for the rescuer. Only you know what physical condition you are in and you should only take this class if you are in good physical condition and health.
