Biological, Tropical and Environmental Sciences with a Volunteer Opportunity
Travel, education and volunteer work can be a great mix. Through environmental learning and volunteering, students will interact and bond with people from a different culture – providing participants with an enriching experience that will benefit themselves, the land around them and the people of Costa Rica.
Be swept away by beautiful tropic scenery, awesome surf and stunning beaches. Service
learning opportunities could include volunteering at a local school or installing
solar panels. Students who participate in the trip will receive 3 hours of college
credit for GLS 120 Study Abroad-and one college credit for SDV 196 Getting Involved
This 10 day experience is set for January 10 – January 19, 2015.
Deadline for registration is: first $500 deposit is due October 15, 2014

|Day 2 - 4||1/11-13||Stay at Mastatal- Orientation, Ecology of the region, indigenous
skills, volunteering at school and around RM
|Day 5||1/14||“Free day” at Mastatal- optional excursions- Rio Negro, Iguana
|Day 6||1/15||Mastatal- Sustainability, volunteering|
|Day 7||1/16||Monteverde- stay the night, hike, guided exploration|
|Day 8 - 9||1/17 - 18||Mastatal- Beach, Sustainable design, farming in the tropics, etc.
|Day 10||1/19||Depart for Home|
