Reskilling Tuition Assistance Program

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges' Reskilling Tuition Assistance Program provides a centralized office that helps match area unemployed and underemployed workers with possible tuition assistance sources for short-term training.

Reskilling Tuition Assistance makes it easier for students to determine if funds are available to help them with their education. In addition to the funding, the program identifies specific short-term training options from which prospective students can choose.

The focus of the funding is on workers who are currently unemployed or are working in low-paying (underemployed) positions. The many training options are all less than one year in length and include:

  • Basic Welding
  • Basic Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Operator
  • CNC Lathe Operator
  • CNC Mill Operator
  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA)
  • Child Development Associate (CDA)
  • Clerical/Receptionist
  • Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic
  • Food Service Sanitation
  • Fork Lift Operator
  • Homemaker Home Health Aid
  • Logistics Technician
  • Medication Aide
  • Phlebotomy
  • Production Maintenance
  • Rehab Aide
  • Renal Dialysis Technician
  • Truck Driving


To qualify, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED
  • Currently unemployed or underemployed
  • Meet income eligibility guidelines
  • A resident of Iowa or Rock Island County, IL
  • Interested in learning new skills
  • Willingness to be on time and work hard

The Reskilling Tuition Assistance Program is being administered by the college’s Career Link Essentials department. Career Link is a two-week training program providing individuals with the basic skills required by all employers. It has been in existence for more than a decade, helping hundreds of area people find employment.
