Dr. Patricia Keir, Chancellor
Eastern Iowa Community College District
Dr. Patricia Keir has established a distinguished career in the forefront of community college service. In 2004, she was appointed the first woman chancellor of the Eastern Iowa Community College District which serves more than 60,000 students annually in both credit and non-credit programs.
Prior to her arrival in Iowa, Dr. Keir spent five years as president at San Diego Miramar College, was the executive vice president and provost at Lansing Community College in Michigan and held administrative posts at the College of DuPage in Illinois.
Dr. Keir earned her Ed.D. in adult and continuing education from Northern Illinois University, master's degrees from Wayne State University and Wesleyan University, and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University. She lives in Bettendorf and has two daughters and one granddaughter, all residing in the Chicago area.
Dr. Keir believes in the mission of Eastern Iowa Community College District to reflect an active commitment to excellence and maintain its position as a leader in providing quality education programs to its students. To that end, she highly values issues such as diversity, community involvement, and aggressively seeking out industry, community, political and educational leaders to form strong alliances and new partnerships which support community needs and improve learning experiences for students.
