Are all scholarships based on academic excellence?
Some scholarships are based on academic excellence. Others are based on other factors such as financial need, residency, leadership, program or area of study, or other requirements.
How many scholarship funds are available each year?
Endowed scholarships are available every year. Other scholarships are available as long as the donor contributes funds.
To be considered for more than one scholarship, do students need to fill out multiple applications?
Send only one application even if you qualify for more than one scholarship. You should complete only one application unless the specific scholarship criterion states otherwise. Every attempt will be made to match available scholarships to your specific situation based upon the detailed information you provide in your essay.
Who selects scholarship recipients?
A scholarship committee comprised of Scott faculty and staff, representing multiple areas of the college, screens the applications. The committee meet to make recommendations based on donor criterion.
Are transcripts and recommendations needed?
If you are currently in high school or have graduated from high school in the last five years, provide a copy of your official high school transcript.
If you graduated more than five years ago, no transcript is required. If you have transferred from another college or university, please supply your academic transcript from that institution.
If you have completed a GED or received a high school diploma through an alternative program, please submit proof of completion along with your scholarship application.
