2009 Home Grown Iron Chef Results

WOW!  That's the best word to use to describe the first of many cooking competitions to come hosted by Scott Community College and the Scott Community College Foundation. 

The following Chefs participated and competed against each other in the Market Competitions:

Monday, July 6th from 4-6 p.m. 
Chef Blake Schar - Woodfire Grill VS
Chef Russell Bolar – Black Watch Room

Monday, July 13th from 4-6 p.m.
Chef Chris Carton - Heritage Woods Senior Living Communities & Lighthouse of Silvis  VS 
Chef Steve Hall - Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse

Monday, July 20th from 4-6 p.m.
Chef Eran Salzmann - Z-Best Café  VS
Chef Jason Gomez - Isle of Capri/Farradday’s

Monday, July 27th from 4-6 p.m.
Sous Chef Philip Austin - Davenport Country Club VS
Sous Chef Chris O’Conner - Crow Valley Country Club

In the end the four contestants to compete at the Final Showdown were: 

• Chef Chris Carton (Heritage Woods and Lighthouse at Silvis Senior Living Communities
• Chef Russell Bolar (Black Watch room at Pebble Creek)
• Sous Chef Phillip Austin (Davenport Country Club)
• Chef Eran Salzmann (Z-best Café). 

Chef Salzmann was the overall winner winning $300* and the title 2009 Scott Community College Home Grown Iron Chef.  Sous Chef Austin was the runner-up winning $200.

*Chef Salzmann generously donated his winnings back to the foundation to establish a Culinary Arts Scholarship in his name.
