As Scott Community College strives to remain valuable to the higher education needs of our community, the demands to make sure our students are given the best education possible with real life teaching tools is growing and so is our need for donations and support to acquire such items. Our in-kind donation needs are plenty with faculty looking for various skeleton models, laboratory equipment, computers, dental equipment, nursing equipment, audio visual equipment, automobiles, and even props and costumes for the theatre department.
To help you determine how you can help, we ask our faculty and staff for their feedback on items they could use that would be of value to them and our students.

Donation of Gifts-In-Kind Procedure
Scott Community College has designated the Scott Community College Foundation to serve in its behalf as agent to accept or decline all gifts, grants, and bequests involving money, equipment, or furnishings. As directed by the Scott Community College Foundation Board of Directors, the Foundation Director will serve as the Scott Community College Foundation’s advising agent for the receipt of all gifts donated to Scott Community College.
When an individual or organization indicates an interest in donating a Gift-In-Kind to the college, the Foundation Director should be notified. If necessary, the director will consult with college staff to determine appropriateness of the donation.
Neither the college nor the Foundation shall appraise a gift. Values placed on contributions and appraisals offered in support of such values for tax purposes shall be the responsibility of the donor. In order to be deductible, the in-kind donation must be made to Scott Community College Foundation with full control and discretion over the disposition or use of the donation. The donor can deduct contributions only if they itemize their deductions on a Schedule A of Form 1040.
Prior to the receipt of any in-kind gift, the person acting as agent for the college will provide the donor with a Gift In Kind Form or a SCCF Gift In Kind Motor Vehicle Donation Form, securing all necessary documentation with signatures from the donor. The college agent will then sign as the person requesting the contribution and submit all paperwork to the Foundation Office for approval. Gifts should not be accepted until approval has been granted from the Foundation Director.
