
Dr. Donald S. Doucette began his duties as Eastern Iowa Community College District (EICCD) on July 1, 2011.
Prior to taking over the reins at EICCD he served as Senior Vice President and Provost of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and its 28 campuses with more than 165,000 students.
As chief operating officer for the college, his responsibilities included leadership of the college’s academic programs, student services, instructional technology and online education, as well as leadership and coordination of the college’s 14 administrative regions.
Prior to coming to Ivy Tech, he served in a similar position, Vice Chancellor for Education and Technology, for the Metropolitan Community Colleges of Kansas City, MO, (MCC), a five-college community college district.
Born and raised in Salem, MA, Dr. Doucette earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Arizona State University, his M.A. in English and his B.A. in English from Cornell University. He has been married for 33 years to Lynn Drazinski, a speech and language therapist and faculty member at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. They have three children: Emily, 26, Meredith, 24, and Daniel, 23.
Dr. Doucette has been active in state policy development in both Missouri and Indiana and served as President of the Presidents/Chancellors Council of the Missouri Community College Association, where he represented Missouri’s community colleges to the state legislature.
He has also been active in regional accreditation, including serving for 10 years as a consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission and a member of its Accreditation Review Council. Previously, he served in various leadership, administrative and teaching roles for the League for Innovation in the Community College; Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, Kansas; Maricopa County Community College District, Phoenix, Arizona; and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Dr. Doucette led the establishment of the first community college in Haiti, the Business and Technology Institute in Les Cayes, Haiti, and currently serves as president of its board. He also serves or has served on the boards of the Friends of BTI Foundation, the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Foundation which operates maternal healthcare clinics in rural Haiti, and the HELP Foundation which supports nine primary schools there. He has also served on local and national committees of the American Red Cross.
