When people think about worker training, their first thought is usually about our many business and industry services, and rightfully so. The sole mission of our Business and Industry Center is to meet the needs of local employers and employees.
However, don't rule out the opportunities available in the college's career technology programs. It is not unusual for employees to enroll in these programs that can be taken either individually or as part of a certificate, diploma or degree program.
Many of our classes in the manufacturing area are designed in a modular format. These are self-paced classes that allow students to take as much or as little time as they need to complete the subject material.
You'll also find that several of our career programs have changed their class schedules to now include four and eight-week sessions, making it easier to complete a class in a short period of time. This is particularly true in our Administrative and Office Support area where short-term, credit classes are available in specific computer applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, among others.
One of our newest programs, Logistics, along with Truck Driving, are among our many transportation careers.
Many employers, recognizing the need for a well-educated workforce, also provide incentives for their employees to complete their college educations. Often, these employees are completing classes toward an Associate in Arts Degree.
