The EMS Refresher Course is designed to provide current information helpful in providing quality patient care in the emergency medical service setting.

The content of the course is based upon the 2000 Department of Transportation National Standard EMT-Paramedic Refresher Curriculum. Completion of this entire program will satisfy all 48 Hours of Section 1A Paramedic Refresher training required for recertification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Course content has also been structured to satisfy all formal State of Iowa core curriculum continuing education requirements.

Registrants may choose to complete all or part of the program.

Although this course has been specifically designed to satisfy the requirements for National Standard Paramedic Refresher training, continuing education will be awarded to all levels of certified/licensed EMS Providers in the states of Iowa and Illinois.

Continuing Education Hours/CEHs:
Eastern Iowa Community College District will award one continuing education hour (CEH) of Credit for each contact hour attended. CEHs earned will be applicable for renewal of an EMS Provider Certification/license in Iowa and
Illinois. Attendance of the entire program will satisfy all mandatory and flexible core requirements of Section 1A of the Qualifications for National Registry Paramedic registration.

CEUS: Nursing CEUs are available for an additional $10.00 through Eastern Iowa Community College District Iowa Board of Nursing Approved Provider No. 8.

Fees:
The cost for the entire EMS Refresher Program is $180.00, or $30.00 PER DAY. A free CD Rom will be provided for each weekend. Lunch is on your own.
