EBusiness Certificate

This course provides an introduction to eBusiness – business that takes place online. It provides introduction to the basics of electronic business and includes project planning, as well as marketing, customer service and business plan development. The course focuses on how eBusiness is carried out, including marketing, web design, and electronic retailing, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this form of commerce, the infrastructures in place to support it, and the global economy within which it takes place.

Prerequisites: Students should be familiar with emailing, web browsing, and basic computer operations. Upon registering, you are given an initial six months to complete the program. (200 contact hours) You may start this course anytime.

Essentials of Human Resource Management

Be prepared to handle daily Human Resources (HR) challenges. This cost-effective course covers real-life HR issues. The SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program is an introductory course offering an overview of the human resource function.

Essentials is designed for entry-level HR professionals, small business owners responsible for the HR function in their companies and people looking into HR as a career-change possibility. Core content includes the following: Resource Management, Employment Law, Recruitment and Selection, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Development and Performance Management. 

The six-week program is offered across the state of Iowa via teleconference.

Home Inspector

A certificate as a Home Inspector will show future employers (buyers and sellers alike) that you have been trained to evaluate structural quality, plumbing, roofing, heating and air conditioning systems, electrical wiring and more. The program could be exactly what you need to begin a new career as a home inspector or establish a home inspection business.

There are no specific pre-requisites for the course. The more knowledge of residential construction a student has the more proficient he/she will be at moving through the course. Any recognized text on residential construction of home inspections will provide reasonable background for the Home Inspection Course.

The intended audience for this Course is the student contemplating a career in home inspections. It also is beneficial for those involved in residential appraisals or other residential construction or consumer businesses. Non-Profit Management Training

This program is for those who work with or desire to work in a non-profit organization or business environment.  The Non-Profit Management Training Program is particularly well suited for anyone in the non-profit field who has recently assumed management responsibilities, anyone who is working in a non-profit organization, or anyone who wants a basic and introductory perspective on some of the unique issues facing management of a non-profit organization. 

The program consists of 20 modules geared to provide the basic and essential information in a timely manner designed to fit busy work and family schedules. You will examine the fundamental and introductory principles of non-profit management as well as the roles and responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors and the management team, examine the essential aspects of fundraising and become acquainted with the fundamentals of the budgeting process.

Project Management

The Project Management online certification course and training program provides a comprehensive education in project management.  It teaches the basics of project management and includes preparation for the Project Management Professional national certification exam.  Textbook and exam prep included.

Technical Writing

The Technical Writing online distance learning course is designed for anyone wanting to develop their technical writing abilities to a professional level.  Students will learn research methods, audience considerations, style, drafting and revision techniques, how to work in a collaborative environment and more.  A variety of media and formats will be studied, including websites, emails, proposals, memos and instructions.

Paralegal

Paralegals, also known as legal assistants, help lawyers prepare for trials. Paralegals are responsible for investigating the facts of a case and review laws, legal decisions and legal articles that might be relevant to the case.

Paralegals may prepare written reports, arguments, pleadings and motions. They are often charged with organizing and tracking files, and may draft contracts, estate plans, agreements and other common legal documents.

Demand for paralegals continues to be strong as more and more private law offices are turning to paralegals to help them reduce costs and provide more legal services in less time. The six-course series will provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to perform the basic duties of a paralegal. High School Diploma or equivalent, college experience and/or law office experience is helpful but not required.
