BTC Welding Addition and Vacated Space Renovation
Architectural Firm: SGGM Architects and Interior Designers
General Contractor: Frye Builders Inc.
Project Start Date: June 2007
Estimated Project Completion Date: August 2008
Project Bid Cost: $1,165,000
Status: SGGM Architects has completed all construction documents, the EICCD Board of Directors has approved the documents, and the project has been bid with the EICCD Board of Trustees awarding the construction contract to Frye Builders Inc.
The contract has been signed and ground breaking / construction began in November. At this writing, the site work is completed, the foundation is almost finished with the building scheduled to arrive on site the week of January 28.
The welding lab addition is scheduled to be completed in late April with renovation to the vacated welding lab scheduled to begin ASAP after the new facility is occupied with anticipated completion of the renovated space by July 2008.
• The new welding addition construction has been completed and all equipment has been moved in with welding instruction underway. Work has begun on the renovation of the vacated welding lab space into three classrooms and 4-5 offices. The renovation of the vacated space is scheduled to be completed by August 18, 2008.
Scott Community College
Belmont Road Entrance Renovation

Project Bid Cost: $775,000
Status: AMENT Inc. has completed all of the surveying, horizontal and vertical line layout, preliminary design, environmental studies, DOT concept statement and preliminary application submittals, roadway design cross-sections, drainage detail, and lighting detail.
The project is on track for all construction documents to be completed and approved for a March 2007 construction bid letting with contracts awarded at the April EICCD Board of Trustees meeting and construction to begin as soon as possible this spring.
• The bidding phase of the project has been completed with the general construction contract being awarded to Hawkeye Paving. Additionally, selection of the Construction Manager has been completed with that contract being awarded to Howard R. Green Company.
• Construction of the entrance relocation has begun with the preliminary dirt wok being completed, the sub-base has been installed and the first placement of the concrete roadway is finished. The connector transition from the new entrance roadway to the existing drive has been installed with intent to open the new roadway on or about August 15th.
• The concrete bases for the new SCC monument signs is presently being installed with the masonry work to follow. The existing SCC messaging sign has been removed and readied for reinstallation in the new location. Work left to be completed on the project is to complete construction of the new entrance signs, removal of the old entrance paving, filling of the old road bed, finish grading and landscaping, and finally the installation of the new roadway lighting. Anticipated completion of the project is mid September.

• Preliminary site work has begun with the clearing of the timber completed and initial dirt work underway. The next phase of the project is to install the storm sewer and prepare the roadbed for paving. Additionally, relocation of some of the utilities along Highway 67 will begin along with the continuation of the preliminary dirt work along the length of the new roadway.
EICCD Science-Technology Additions

Status: A District-wide team has been formed and has met to determine some general and common design considerations for the three campus additions. The team was also responsible for developing RFP selection criteria for the Architectural services chosen as well as participating in the review of proposals submitted, interviews of the finalists and consensus recommendation for award of the professional services contract to the EICCD Board of Trustees.
The EICCD Board of Trustees has awarded the professional services contract and Stanley Consultants, Neumann Monson Architects have prepared a contract for approval and signature and are preparing a design development schedule to begin implementation and meetings with all sites for completion of the schematic design phase of the project. Kickoff meeting tentatively scheduled for February 7, 2008.
• District Science-Technology Addition Concept Team Members-Amensisa Abdi-CCC, Amy Gruhn-CCC, Kevin King-CCC, Paul Mayes-MCC, Janelle Torres y Torres-MCC, Andrew Burt-SCC, Thomas Coley-SCC, Angela Ghrist-SCC, Jamal Tayh-SCC, Kirk Barkdoll-EICCD.
• Stanley Consultants-Neumann Monson Architects have completed the Programming Development and Schematic Design Phases of the project at all three locations and are 50% completed with the Detail Designs at the colleges.
The next steps will be to complete the Detail Designs and Construction Documents with the intent of going out to bid with all projects in October with the contract to be awarded in November and construction to begin as soon as possible after the contract award.
Clinton Community College Maquoketa Center
Architectural Firm: SGGM Architects and Interior Designers-RDG Planning and Design

Status: The project design team at CCC has made the recommendation to the EICCD Board of Trustees that the professional services contract be awarded to SGGM Architects and Interior Designers, with the EICCD Board awarding the contract at the December Board of Trustees meeting.
SGGM Architects and Interior Designers has prepared a contract for approval and signature and are preparing a design development schedule to begin implementation and meetings with CCC design team members for completion of the schematic design phase of the project. Kickoff meeting was held on Thursday January 24 with the college design team and SGGM Architects.
• SGGM Architects-RDG Planning and Design have completed the Programming Development, Schematic Design, Detail Design and Construction Document Phases of the project.
The Bid Specifications and Construction Drawing were approved for advertisement at the July 21st EICCD Board of Trustees meeting with bids due Tuesday August 12th at 2:00PM at Clinton Community College. The construction contract for the project will be awarded at the August 21st EICCD Board of Trustees meeting with construction to begin in early September 2008.
Muscatine Community College
University Center Renovation
Architectural Firm: Gere-Dismer Architects

Status: The project design team at MCC has made the recommendation to the EICCD Board of Trustees that the professional services contract be awarded to Gere-Dismer Architects, with the EICCD Board awarding the contract at the December Board of Trustees meeting.
Gere-Dismer Architects has prepared a contract for approval and signature and are preparing a design development schedule to begin implementation and meetings with MCC design team members for completion of the schematic design phase of the project. The initial kick-off meeting with Gere-Dismer and MCC design team members was held on Monday January 7, 2008. Work has begun to remove all stored items from the building with demolition to follow.
• Demolition of existing facility is completed in preparation for the renovation.
• Gere Dismer Architects have completed the Programming Development, Schematic Design, Detail Design and Construction Document Phases of the project. The Bid Specifications and Construction Drawing were approved for advertisement at the July 21st EICCD Board of Trustees meeting with bids due Wednesday August 13th at 2:00PM at Muscatine Community College.
The construction contract for the project will be awarded at the August 21st EICCD Board of Trustees meeting with construction to begin in early September 2008.
Blong Technology Center Alternative Energy Building
Architectural Firm: SGGM Architects and Interior Designers-RDG Planning & Design

Status: Initial meetings were held in early December to identify requirements for development of the RFP for professional Architectural services for the development of the building. The RFP was approved at the December EICCD Board of Trustees meeting with proposals due on Wednesday January 16, 2008.
The selection team will review the proposals and make recommendations to the EICCD Board of Trustees for contract award during the January 2008 EICCD Board of Trustees meeting. Interviews are set for Friday January 25th with four firms being interviewed.
• Professional services architectural/engineering design contract was awarded to SGGM Architects-RDG Planning and Design.
• Work has begun to determine the programming needs of the facility, relationships to the existing building and site features that may support energy efficient designs leading to a LEED Platinum Standard certification and commissioning.
• SGGM Architects-RDG Planning and Design have completed the Programming Development and Schematic Design phases of the design development.
• EICCD has submitted an application to the Kresge Foundation in hopes of securing foundation monies to offset design development costs.
• A meeting has been scheduled with design team members, architects, engineers Weidt Group members and Mid-American Energy for a MidAmerican CNC Strategy review. The meeting will be held the week of August 4th.
SCC Applied Technology Building
Addition and Renovation
Architectural Firm: Gere-Dismer Architects –OPN Architects
Project Start Date: January 2008

Status: Preliminary meetings have begun to determine the scope of work that is desired. Work will continue to sharpen the scope between the building addition and the renovation.
Once the scope is refined, an RFP will be developed to advertise for professional Architectural services for the building design development. Timeline for taking the RFP to the EICCD Board of Trustees is February 2008 with the college making recommendation for contract award at the April 2008 EICCD Board meeting.
• RFP’s for professional architectural/engineering services has been reviewed with the EICCD Board of Trustees awarding the contract to Gere Dismer Architects-OPN Architects.
• Initial meetings have been held to determine project scope as well as Programming needs.
• Gere Dismer Architects-OPN Architects have completed the Programming Development Phase of the design and are approximately 75% completed with the Schematic Design phase of the project.
• It is anticipated that the Schematic Design phase of the project will be completed by the end of August with the Detail Design and Construction Drawings and Documents completed and ready for EICCD Board approval at the November 2008 Board of Trustees meeting.
