Join us for a night at the Capitol Theatre with Kenny
Salwey on Wednesday, March 24. View the Emmy- winning documentary
about his life on the Mississippi, Mississippi: Tales of the
Last River Rat. It will be a night filled with storytelling.
There will be a meet and greet, as well as a question and
answer, and a book signing.
Kenny Salwey is the author of Tales of a River Rat: Adventures Along the Wild Mississippi, and co-author of The Last River Rat: Kenny Salwey's Life in the Wild. Both books are the basis for the documentary about his life, living and working along side the Mississippi.
Kenny Salwey grew up learning the ways of the old-time river rats. A born storyteller, Kenny inherited the ability to spin a tale from his maternal grandmother. In his stories he pursues runaway steers through the river bottoms, battles a wary old trout, and shares his sleeping quarters with a black bear. Balancing insight with laughter, and populated with a colorful array of swampland travelers and animals, Kenny's tall tales bring alive the rich simplicity of a life lived along the mighty Mississippi.
