Davenport, IA - Hollywood will come to the banks of the Mississippi on April 21, 2007, with a film festival at Davenport's beautiful Capitol Theatre, located at 331 West 3rd Street. Film Fest Quad Cities will feature local entrepreneurs who are working in the motion picture industry and will showcase opportunities for young entrepreneurs to use their creative talents to build new businesses serving the industry.
The Film Fest is presented by the Eastern Iowa SBDC and Scott Community College and takes place at the beginning of Small Business Week. Events across the country will showcase America's small businesses and their importance to the nation's economy. Small Business Week is sponsored by the Small Business Administration (SBA)
"The motion picture industry creates exciting new possibilities for economic development in the Quad Cities. Internet technology has opened up a wide range of possibilities for young people who are interested in participating in the motion picture industry, either through movie production or creation of video, Internet or other content using their literary, musical or artistic talent.", said Ann Hutchinson, Director of the Davenport SBDC office. "If you watched this year's Super Bowl, you understand the potential. Four of the 57 commercials that ran nationally during the game were produced by amateurs - a trend that is growing in the advertising industry. Our presenters will showcase their works and tell our audience how they are building successful businesses in this exciting industry."
The Film Fest will run from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and show two full length films and several short films throughout the day. Other presentations will showcase work in animation, music and video production. Discussion periods following each presentation will allow participants plenty of time for interaction with presenters. Presenters include:
Max Allan Collins and Phil Dingledein
Scott Beck and Bryan Wood - Bluebox Limited
Ed Isenberg - Avolux Media
Scott Morschhauser
Greg Martin - Silver Oaks Communications
Films will include:
Elliot Ness
