Public viewing of bald eagles in their natural environment will take place at Lock and Dam #13 from 8 a.m.– 3 p.m. Lock and Dam #13 is located five miles north of Fulton, IL, off Highway 84.
Naturalists and
volunteers will be on hand with spotting scopes available to aid in viewing
the bald eagles.
Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, spotting scopes and cameras. You are encouraged to wear warm clothing to the viewing sites.
Due to limited parking and additional security, participants are encouraged to use the free courtesy bus service, sponsored by local businesses and provided by the Municipal Transit Administration of the City of Clinton.
The bus will travel between the viewing site and the college, departing and arriving every half hour beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pick up a bus schedule at the college.
NOTE: Winter is a stressful time for bald eagles. It is important that resting eagles not be frightened to the point that they fly off and burn up badly needed energy.
