Energy and our Environment Day
Camp for K-4th Graders

Nahant Marsh, The Davenport Parks & Recreation, and Eastern Iowa Community College District are teaming up as part of Scott County GREEN (Guidance for Residential Energy Efficiency Neighborhoods) to offer this hands-on exploration of how the energy we use effects the environment.

Kids will get a chance to learn the basics of energy through fun, hands-on activities. They will build solar-powered boats and cars, build and cook with solar ovens, explore steam engines, examine hydro-power, look at new and old energy sources, learn how to make their homes more GREEN, and much more! Lunch and Snacks will be provided daily.

When:	July 12-16, 2010 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Participants will get a chance to meet local experts and learn how to install solar panels and wind turbines, design and build solar heaters from recycled materials, build and cook with solar ovens, explore how Biofuels are made, explore steam engines, explore energy-related pollution, examine hydro-power, learn how to design energy efficient homes, and much more! Lunch and Snacks will be provided daily.
