Trench Rescue Fee: $75
When trenches cave in and trap victims under soil and rocks, the firefighter/first responder needs to quickly locate and free the victim. The student will learn soil conditions, shoring, air monitoring and excavation equipment. This is an operations level course.  16 hours

Marina
Firefighting
Fee: $75
Firefighters face unique challenges when faced with a marina or small boat fires; from fire suppression, to hazardous materials and personal safety on or near water. Firefighters will experience live fire conditions in a mock-up marina, fight a fire in a boat, and use containment booms from fuel spills. Full NFPA compliant turn-out gear and SCBA required. Students must have Firefighter I or equivalent training to participate.    8 hours

Ropes
and Knots
Fee: $35
This course provides the Firefighter information on the use of ropes and mechanical systems as a prerequisite training for advanced rope rescue such as high angle and high to low angle rescue. At the completion of the course the student will be able to set up several mechanical advantage systems.   4 hours

Fire
Extinguisher
Fee: $45
The law on fire extinguisher training is pretty clear; federal regulations in OSHA make it mandatory. Fire experts from the Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training provide important fire safety training to industry, commerce, business and construction. This program is designed to deal directly with the inherent fire hazards to property and people. Additionally,  this training  accounts for life safety practices, recognition of specific types of fires, the effect of proper and improper use of fire extinguishers.  3 hours

This course provides the Firefighter with information on various types of foam, foam nozzles and foam application. Water rescue create some of the most treacherous conditions the firefighter/rescuer can face. This program prepares the rescuer to properly work as a team, to minimize danger to themselves and to their team members.   8 hours

This program covers the history and development of engineered wood products as they are used in residential and light commercial construction. The information contained in this program will increase the firefighters understanding of the dangers of early structural collapse.  4 hours

Grain Bin
Rescue
Fee: $35
This course is designed to raise awareness about grain bin rescue procedures and equipment; will provide extensive hands on training. Students will gain experience working in grain bins and using technical rescue equipment, such as ropes, harnesses, carabineers, mechanical advantage systems, anchor points, coffer damns, breathing apparatus, tripods and victim packaging.  8 hours

Low Angle
Rope Rescue
 
Fee: $95
Rope rescue skills are used in almost all technical rescue disciplines. This 2-day course will take the student to operations level. This class is a perfect foundation to advance to high angle rope rescue. Every department has some area within its jurisdiction that would require a low angle rescue, from a gravel pit, to a river bank, to an elevated highway or railroad tracks. 16 hours

Refunds and Substitution: If your plans change, you may cancel your registration up to seven calendar days prior to the start of class. After that no refunds will be issued. You may however apply the tuition towards another class that meets your scheduling requirements or you may choose a gift certificate in the amount of your class to be used within one year of the date issued. Please note that if you don’t cancel and don’t attend, you are still responsible for payment.

Class Cancellation:  Seven days prior to the class, a decision will be made by the staff of the Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training to run or cancel the program based on the number of individuals who have enrolled and paid. The Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment.

Transcript and documentation: Each student who attends classes offered by the MWCSRT will receive a certificate of attendance for the course. A permanent transcript documenting training will be maintained by the college.
