Whether it’s scaling the heights to rescue victims from tall buildings or navigating rough waters for rescues on the Mississippi River, the Midwest Center for Safety and
Rescue Training (MCSRT)
provides you with the specific, hands-on, training you need to accomplish your mission.

Map of Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training propertyWith federal, state and community partnerships, the Eastern Iowa Community College District (EICCD) has converted a former recreational water facility into a one-of-a-kind training facility. Only here will you find a wave pool, capable of simulating white caps on the river, located next to a 55-foot tall tower capable of simulating rope and high angle rescue.

“A perfect storm of government and business partnerships converged at the same time as the water park became available, providing us with an incredibly unique opportunity,” said EICCD Executive Director for Continuing Education Dr. Nancy Kothenbeutel. “The possibilities for future development are endless.”

Future site of Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training MCSRTThe facility’s two lakes allow for a myriad of simulations such as retrieving vehicles from rivers or lakes, marine fire fighting, deep water rescue training, ice rescue and training in dredging techniques. Its pump house, attached to the wave pool, creates an excellent opportunity for hazardous materials training including lockout/tagout, permit entry and confined space rescue.

The MCSRT adds to the college’s tradition of excellence in providing emergency rescue training to area firefighters, emt’s, police officers and private business. For more than two decades, the college has been the key training resource throughout eastern Iowa.

A full listing of the services provided through the MCSRT is available is at the right. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, give us a call. Amazing things are possible at the new Midwest Center for Safety and Rescue Training.
