Muscatine Baseball has received a pair of commitments from Chris Romano of Markham, Ontario, and Jimmy Risi of Highland Park, IL.
Romano is a 6'3", 210 lb. right-handed power pitcher. He will contend as a frontline starting pitcher for the 2009/2010 Cardinals. Romano is currently a player of interest in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. Head Coach
"Romano is a great pick up for the program, and we expect him to compete for a spot as a conference starter as a freshman," said Head Coach Dave Barb.
Risi is a 5'11", 215 lb. power hitting left hander who is a transfering freshman from the Kansas State University baseball program. Prep Baseball report ranked Risi as one of the best high school hitters in Illinois in 2008.
"Jimmy is a game changing stick in the lineup who just might knock down the right field fence at Bruner field with his power," said Barb.
Risi is expected to do a little bit of everything for the 2009/2010 Cardinals playing oufield, first base and pitching, where he features a mid 80's fastball from the left side.
