This section offers an overview of some important Muscatine
Community College policies. It is in no way a comprehensive
resource. You should refer to the Eastern Iowa Community College
Student Handbook for complete information on policies, procedures,
and disciplinary actions that result from violation of the
policies.
The College expects its student-athletes to conduct themselves so
as to reflect credit upon the institution they represent. There are
two basic standards of behavior required of all students:
1. Students will not violate any board policy or municipal, state, or federal law;
2. Students will not interfere with or disrupt the orderly educational processes of the College. Students are not entitled to greater immunities or privileges before the law than those enjoyed by any other citizens.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIESThe basic responsibilities of all students include:

All Muscatine Community College students are expected to maintain high standards of academic integrity. Failure to uphold the academic standards of Muscatine Community College may jeopardize your eligibility as a student-athlete as well as your standing as a Muscatine Community College student.
Examples of academic misconduct include:
It is our intent and obligation to provide a drug-free,
healthful, safe, and secure campus in order to promote an
optimum-learning environment.
The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession,
or use of a controlled substance on college premises or while
representing the college off campus is absolutely prohibited.
Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action, up to
and including expulsion, and may have legal consequences.
The legal drinking age in Iowa is 21 years of age. The law states,
in general, that no alcoholic beverages may be sold, delivered, or
given in any way to a person under 21 years of age.
Alcoholic beverages, for those of legal age, may be allowed, with
prior administrative approval, at certain college events. The
guidelines for allowing alcoholic beverages at student events are
available from the designated college activity coordinator.
Violations of the District policies regarding alcoholic beverages
will result in disciplinary action.
College policy and federal law prohibit discrimination on the
basis of race, color, creed, religion, ethnic origin, age, gender,
or disability. For information on filing a grievance in matters
related to discrimination, see the section in the Eastern Iowa
Community College Handbook on "Discrimination Complaint
Procedure".
Muscatine Community College is committed to providing workplaces
and learning places that are free from sexual harassment of any
kind.
In general, sexual harassment encompasses any sexually related
conduct which causes discomfort, embarrassment, or humiliation, and
any harassing conduct, sexually related or otherwise, directed
toward an individual because of that individual's gender.
