Clinton Community College head women’s volleyball coach Joe Shovlain has announced the signing of two players to NJCAA National Letters of Intent. The two include Brianna Willis of Camanche and Sarah Weiss of Clinton
Willis, a three sport stand out, is a 5’10” middle hitter for Camanche High School. While at Camanche she earned the 2005-2006, 2006-2007 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Excellence in Academic Achievement Award in volleyball and basketball.
She also earned 1st team All Area Clinton Herald, 1st team All Big East Conference, 1st team 2006 Camanche All Tournament Team in volleyball. She was named 2nd team All Big East Conference in basketball and placed 4th in the state high jump in class 2A track. Brianne was named to the 2005 Who’s Who in America – Academics. She is the daughter of Kathleen and Wayne Schultz and Trevor and Kim Willis.
“We are thrilled Brianna chose CCC over the other scholarship opportunities she had," said Coach Shovlain. "With Brianna’s athleticism and jumping ability we look for her to have an immediate impact on our program. Plus Brianna is an excellent student – she is just a great fit for our college and program.”
Weiss was a 5’10” middle hitter for Clinton High School. While at Clinton High she earned 3rd Team All Area Clinton
Hearld and honorable mention All MAC her senior year.
She also was active at Clinton High School in chorus, band and SADD. Sarah plans to major in nursing at CCC. She is the daughter of Carl and Angie Weiss and the grand daughter of Roland and Darlene Weiss.
“We are very happy Sarah chose CCC to continue her volleyball career," Coach Shovlain said. "Sarah is an excellent person as well as volleyball player. She had a great year at Clinton High School and I believe she has a great chance to be a great player here at CCC. With hard work the sky is the limit for Sarah.”
