Clinton Community College has announced the appointment of Marcus Harris as new men’s basketball coach. Marcus Harris brings six years of coaching experience to Clinton Community College.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach at CCC," Harris said. "I hope my experience as a coach and my experience as a former community college athlete will be a benefit to the college and most importantly our student athletes.”
He has been an assistant coach for four years at Clinton Community College under Coach Bob Walker and Josh Davis. He was previously an assistant coach at Mount St. Clare College. Harris’ other college responsibilities include Academic Advising and Job Placement.
Harris graduated from Mount St. Clare College in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Social Science. He was a member of the basketball program at Mount St. Clare where he was a two-time first-team All Midwest Conference and two-time Honorable-Mention All-American performer, with a 25.5 points per game average. He is third on the school’s all-time scoring list.
“Marcus Harris has great experience on many different levels; as a student-athlete, coach and as an advisor at the college," said Athletics Director Joe Shovlain. "He brings solid experience, a connection to the community and a commitment to our student-athletes. Marcus will do a good job of continuing the long standing tradition of basketball at Clinton Community College.”
“We are excited to have Marcus as our men’s basketball coach," said CCC President Karen Vickers. "In addition to his coaching experience, he is a great role model. He cares about our students and he is a strong student advocate on and off the court.
"While this year’s season is just over, Marcus is working toward next year’s season. I am confident we will see good things under his leadership.”
Harris graduated from Moore High School, in Louisville Kentucky in 1989, were he was a three-year letterman and all-state selection in basketball. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching the History Channel, playing chess, playing catch with his daughter, and playing pick-up basketball. Harris lives in Clinton with wife Tiffany and daughter Monique.
