Electromechanical Systems prepares students to apply basic
engineering principles and technical skills in developing and testing
automated, servo mechanical and other electromechanical systems.
The
program includes instruction in prototype testing, manufacturing and
operational testing, systems analysis and maintenance, and report
preparation. It is specifically designed for students wanting to enter
the job market in the areas of manufacturing, communication, national
defense, commercial air travel and energy production.
All of these
fields use electronic equipment as control devices, and they have become
critical to the success and smooth operation of a company. For that
reason, there will be many opportunities for employment for installers,
repairers and maintenance personnel.
Students can enter the full Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Electromechanical Systems program or choose from shorter options:
Classes are held at the college’s Blong Technology Center just off Interstate 80, north of Davenport.
Graduates of the Electromechanical program go on to work at many different companies. Genesis Systems in Davenport is just one of those companies. It designs robotics for manufacturing. This video from the company tells about what they do.
