Experience:
Julie is currently employed by Eastern Iowa Community College District as Manager of the Iowa Waste Exchange program, a grant-funded program that assists Iowa business and industry to re-use and recycle by-products and wastes that would otherwise end up in Iowa landfills.

Julie also acts as the Environmental Compliance Facilitator for Eastern Iowa Community College District's three campuses. As an Environmental Biologist, Julie has previously managed her own environmental consulting business, and held positions as an environmental consultant for a private environmental laboratory/consulting firm, laboratory chemist at a municipal wastewater treatment facility, archaeological field technician, engineer's assistant at a coal fired electrical generating station and as a fisheries biologist.

Education: 
B.A. in Environmental Biology from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois M.A. in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Interests:
One of Julie's biggest life adventures was sailing for three years through the South Pacific along with her husband on their 27-foot sailboat. Other activities she enjoys include bicycling, hiking, and other outdoor endeavors, photography, playing in a community orchestra, traveling, gardening and spending time with her husband and cats at her home on the banks of the Mississippi River.
