A recent study by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts rapid growth in employment opportunities for surgical technicians.

Nationally, the forecast is for a 21 percent growth by 2016 in hospital settings, and 38 percent growth in doctors’ offices.

The median national wage for the profession is $37,500 and in Iowa it is $33,600.
