Dental Assisting

Dental Assisting studentsWith a brand new lab and equipment, Scott Community College is the perfect place to get the training you need to begin a challenging career in Dental Assisting.

Dental assistants assist dentists at chairside and also perform functions such as polishing teeth, taking X-rays, mixing materials and sterilizing instruments. Some assistants also manage the office and patient accounts, schedule appointments and purchase supplies.

During the nine-month program, students gain classroom, laboratory and hands-on experience not only in our state-of-the-art lab but also by working with patients at the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa, at Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Iowa City and in Quad City private dental offices.
