So, you're 35 years old, give or take a decade, and you have a busy life with work and family commitments. You don't have time to take college classes, right?
Wrong!
Older students with commitments outside
of the classroom are a typical occurrence for us. Half of our
student body ranges in age anywhere from 25 to 45, so we're used to
dealing with students who have a lot of irons in the fire. That's
also the reason we've created many different ways for you to fit
classes around a busy schedule:
Evening and Saturday Classes: Our classrooms don't shut down at 3 p.m. We offer a full schedule of classes in the evenings and on Saturday mornings.
Alternative Locations: We understand that travel can be an issue. That's why we deliver classes at many different locations and communities throughout our district.
Short-Term and Modular Delivery: Many of our programs offer short-term classes that are only have as long as a traditional semester and, in some cases, even less. Also, a number of the manufacturing classes at the Blong Technology Center and Muscatine Industrial Technology Center are offered in a modular format. That means they are self-paced, you can take as much or as little time as you need, and you can schedule your lab hours around your personal schedule.
Online and Distance Learning: Classes offered via the internet allow you to, literally, attend class when you want. If you're free time is 1 p.m. or 1 a.m., it doesn't matter. Telecouses and other distance learning options allow you the same flexibility.
