"Hi, welcome to my site!"
Jean Brockert
MCC Student
I wanted to express to as many people as
possible how my decision to take some college courses changed my
life. I was afraid and I had many questions when I decided to start
my first course at Muscatine Community College.
I am 43 years old and I have worked full time at the same job for
21 years. I felt trapped in my job because I knew that if I wanted
to work some place different, I would have to take a cut in pay or
take some college courses. I still work full time, I have a family
to care for, and I take a couple of courses each semester.
Actually, I enjoy my job more now than I did before because I know
that I am going to be able to have more job opportunities when I
finish school.
When I signed up to take my first course, I didn't know how to type
and I knew nothing about a computer. I had a computer at home for
my children, but I was scared to do anything on it.
I have really learned a lot. I have been on the president's list
and I'm an active member and officer of Phi Theta Kappa.
Since I have returned to school, my life has become more exciting
and I am very proud of myself. I hope that you find as much
satisfaction in taking some courses as I have. I hope the
information in the following sections will answer some of your
questions and make it easier for you to decide to take a course or
two at MCC.

Martin Luther King's quote, "I have a dream," is a favorite of
mine. I do have a dream, and I am so happy I had the courage to go
back to school and pursue that dream. Do you have a dream?
