Our graduates probably say it best.
Here's how we helped them build bridges to their
future:
“I
checked out other colleges and Clinton Community College’s
drafting program was exactly what I wanted. I have a young son and
I needed to find a good job. The instructor was willing to work
with me, the schedule worked really well and the curriculum was
great. Bruce (CCC’s drafting instructor) helped me find a job
so I was able to start working right after I graduated.”
Courtney Buikema
CAD Operator/ Field Inspector, IMES Engineering
“Clinton Community College thoroughly
prepared me for my career as a nurse practitioner. When I started
college, I knew I wanted to get my bachelor’s degree, so it
was extremely important that I perform well academically right from
the start. I was very happy with the knowledge I received from
CCC’s instructors. The combination of classroom and clinical
learning experience helped us all get ahead. Small class sizes
combined with good instruction, so after my first year, I was ready
to go all the way to earning my master’s degree!”
Kim Mulholland
Nurse Practitioner, Medical Associates
“SCC had
everything that a larger university had except the large price tag.
The first factor that drew me to SCC was the cost of community
college when compared to a university. I took the General Education
classes like English, math, speech and science that are required at
any four-year university. These classes were also very easy to
transfer on to a four-year university. Another factor was the
smaller class sizes and the one-on-one relationship between the
teacher and the student. Overall, my experience at SCC has helped
me pursue the career and dream of forecasting the challenging
weather of the Quad Cities.”
Kris Oetzmann
KWQC-TV6 Meteorologist
“Just out of
high school, I knew if I wanted to make something of myself, I
needed an education to enter the working world. I did not want to
move into a dorm room in the typical college town. Large
auditorium-style classrooms of 50+ people did not appeal to me, and
I wanted to attend evening classes, so I could work during the day
to pay for my education. Scott Community College offered me the
flexibility and opportunity I needed for an associate degree in
Business Administration. I took that degree, added a B.A. in
Business from St. Ambrose University, and before I knew it, I was
director of mall marketing for SouthPark Mall.”
Lysa Hegland
Director of Mall Marketing for SouthPark
“The
smartest thing I ever did was to get involved in the TRIO program
at Scott Community College. After taking two years off after high
school, I decided to enroll at Scott. At first I didn’t know
if I’d make it, but I became involved with the people in TRIO
and made lasting relationships. We are like family now. I’ve
received great encouragement here, and now I don't want to leave.
But I feel stronger and I have grown. I’m ready to go on to
St. Ambrose to complete my Business degree. I'm proud to say I
went to SCC!
Marguerite White
SCC transfer student
“I started as
a shop laborer with Sears Manufacturing Company right out of high
school. After several years, I decided to work towards a degree in
Industrial Engineering. SCC was a stepping-stone toward my goal. I
started at Scott Community College and completed my degree at St.
Ambrose. As I progressed through my education (on a part-time
basis) I saw new doors open for me that otherwise wouldn't have. I
attribute much of my professional success to my educational
background.”
Steve Lovejoy,
Director of Operations
Sears Manufacturing Co.
"Choosing
SCC's Microcomputer Information Technology program is the smartest
thing I've ever done because now I have greater confidence in
myself and I am a better role model for my kids. I'm ready for the
workplace in all aspects."
