The primary purpose of financial aid is to provide assistance
for students who otherwise might find it difficult or impossible to
attend college. To receive maximum consideration for all types of
financial assistance, student financial aid files must be completed
by April 1. Students must reapply each academic year. Financial aid
is only available for eligible degree seeking students enrolled in
credit classes. Financial aid may not be received for audits, test
outs, life experience or continuing/community education
classes.
Students enrolled in short-term programs (certificate or diploma
programs less than 24 credit hours) may not be eligible for
financial aid or may have reduced eligibility. Contact the
Financial Aid Office for more information.
Students enrolled solely in distance education classes
(telecourses, Internet and/or correspondence) may have reduced loan
eligibility. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more
information.
Students who attend another institution at the same time that they
attend Clinton, Scott or Muscatine Community Colleges should
contact the Financial Aid Office about financial aid eligibility.
Students cannot receive financial aid from two institutions during
the same semester.
GRANTS
Grants including the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental
Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the Iowa
Vocational/Technical Tuition Grant Program, the Iowa Grant and the
EICC Grant are awarded to students who demonstrate the greatest
financial need.
COLLEGE WORK STUDY
The Federal College Work Study (CWS) Program provides limited
part-time employment for students. Funding is provided by the
federal government. In order to qualify for this program, students
must demonstrate financial need.
Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the federal
college work-study program may be able to earn their work-study
through the "America Reads/America Counts" program. Under this
program, college students tutor elementary-aged students one-on-one
in reading and/or math. Tutors selected for the America
Reads/America Counts program will receive formal training and must
complete a background screening. Students from any area of
concentration may apply to become a part of this program.
WILLIAM D FORD DIRECT LOAN PROGRAM
Three different federal loan programs are available to students. These programs include Direct Subsidized Student Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Student Loans and Direct Plus Loans (for parents).
