Campus Security Report

The following is a statement of compliance with the requirements under the Title II Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act as outlined in the August, 1991, "Dear Colleague" letter from the United States Department of Education, and in the 1998 higher education amendments, and the EICCD Board Policy.

A.)  The EICCD Administrative Procedures Manual lists the existing policies and procedures for the reporting of criminal actions or other emergencies, and policies concerning the EICCD's response to these reports.

B.)  Security systems are in place at facilities owned or controlled by the college. The manager of buildings and grounds is responsible for ensuring that security systems are in place which protect and control access to buildings.

C.)  The District employs no security personnel. Local law enforcement and private security firms are relied upon to provide quick response to security needs. In all matters where it is deemed appropriate, a policy report using the appropriate reporting form will be filed through the college Ancillary Services Office.

D.)  Annually, the college provides programming that includes student orientation, and staff development activities designed to make people aware of their own security and the security of others. The District Administrative Procedures Manual contains the policies of the District relative to campus security procedures and the reporting of incidents. This manual is available at each college and can be accessed from any District mainframe computer terminal. In the best interest of the entire college community, EICCD students and staff are collectively encouraged to use good judgment in their actions on or around the college campus. The individual well-being of each person should be the overriding goal of all people associated with the Community College District. The EICCD will remain diligent in its efforts to promote a safe and secure campus environment.

E.)  Safety and security programs offered include, but are not limited to self defense, home security, prevention of sexual assault and domestic violence, and substance abuse.

F.)  Statistics concerning the occurrence on- and off-campus of the following criminal offenses reported to campus security authorities or local police agencies are available through either the President's or Ancillary Services Office.
