Muscatine Community College (MCC) will celebrate the accomplishments of more than 240 students on Saturday, May 11, during its 93rd Commencement Ceremony.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at Calvary Church, 501 W. Bypass 61, Muscatine, Iowa. Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of these graduates. For those unable to attend in person, the college will livestream the event at eicc.edu/grad24.

MCC is pleased to highlight outstanding students who will be available for media interviews:

  • Lilly Clark
Clark came to MCC to earn an associate’s degree in agriculture education, and throughout her studies she also stood up to support her peers. She joined The Gray Matters Collective, was a Resident Advisor for MCC student housing, and even shared her voice in choir. Along the way, she was supported, too, by her MCC advisor, the housing manager, and a group of staff she affectionately describes as “my other moms.” Clark plans to transfer to Iowa State in the fall.
  • Yashira Ortiz-Hutt
Ortiz-Hutt's dream of earning a college degree has been over a decade in the making, marking a significant achievement as a first-generation student. Despite the challenges of being a single mother, working full-time, and the COVID-19 pandemic, she remained steadfast in her pursuit. Returning to MCC in 2023, Ortiz-Hutt demonstrated exceptional dedication, serving as President of MCC's Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter and earning recognition as an All-Iowa Academic student. In the fall, she plans to transfer her associate’s degree in Criminal Justice to St. Ambrose University on a full-ride scholarship to study forensic psychology. Ortiz-Hutt will also share her inspiring story as a student speaker at Commencement.
  • Kaden Amigon-Suiter
Amigon-Suiter is an accomplished honors graduate of Columbus Community High School and MCC. His journey towards a career in criminal justice began with enrollment in MCC's Junior Police Academy in summer 2023, followed by the Criminal Justice Career Academy in fall 2023. Graduating from MCC with a Criminal Justice Certificate, a 16-credit program, Kaden took full advantage of the opportunities provided by Career Academies, allowing him to earn college credits at no cost while still in high school. This fall, he will continue his academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), utilizing his earned credits on a football scholarship, multicultural RISE scholarship, and academic scholarship.
